The Tales of an Authentic African Entrepreneur by Chinonso Ogbogu

I KNOW….
I know what it means to have your proposals rejected, I have been there and back!
I know what it means to bootstrap and scratch and crawl your way forward, I have been there and back.
I know what it means to screw up clients’ jobs and have them terminate your deal, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to have so many bills to pay but little or no cash to pay them, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to work with the wrong people, people who just couldn’t get it but sapped your energy instead, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to have friends push you away because they feel you are not a good specimen or that you are ready for the knacker’s yard, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to burn your a*s and lose blood just to meet a deadline and have the date shifted or cancelled unapologetically, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to handle sceptics and critics at the frontyard, the backyard, and homefront, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to have your request for support turned down and delayed perpetually, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to go without food, without money and without good shelter, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to have your idea stolen and spoilt, I have been there and back!

I know what it means to fail, to fail again, to fail again and again, and have people begin to question your sanity and ability to make a head way, I have been there and back!

To all of these things and people and many more do I owe my being the entrepreneur I have become and the one I am yet to be.

Through these uncut scenes and plots have I become that person I have always dreamed of and still holding unto the torch for others to light from.

Sometimes we try to quickly fight and wrestle our way out of our tussles, wishing that they or should never happen, yet unknown to us that it is only in the tussles that the making of champions is made possible.

Let’s savour our tussles and embrace our hustles, because through them are we made refined and pure in this journey of building businesses that stay long after we are gone.

Show me an entrepreneur without a tussle and with a strong fizzle I will show you an entrepreneur that doesn’t worth my praises because everything about him has no puzzle.

Drop mic.
